Cam sprockets gen 4 race cams.

Manual says New sprockets are needed for the kit cams. They are adjustable but I take it they don't suit these cams. Anyone with experience could help me. Don't want to buy new sprockets if I dont have to.

Gen4 race sprockets are same as Gen1 stock. I don't know if using used sprockets would be good idea thou.
I remeber reading somewhere, that offset along axis is different. You could compare race cam with stock by measuring distance from sprocket end of the cam to lobe or ring before that.
I received yesterday long waited package with race intake cam, opened package and damn, it's stk exhaust!

Gum do you have race intake cam in hand, what it the marking on it???

The cams are like 30usd...

look at the kit manual, I only know that the stock ones, use the stock sprockets, but I suspect that the race cams use different sprockets...

One thing, I have seen that those kit cams do not work on stock bore, compression they reduce performance.

If you email me I can send you the kit manual

did a gen 4 head for a customer last year, runs race int. on stk. gen 4 sprocket and bike gets ridden along with ocassional track days. runs stk. ex. cam. head decked .015, .45mm hg. kit cams do need compression, actually designed for more,14.5-15 comp., especially with the longer duration ex. cam used. this guy can make hp, bike originally mad 193 pump tuned, tweaked it to 198 on pump, 207 on mr12. he's got his combo figured out.

It's all done. Thanks to Jim in GA on this forum. The race sprockets are 05 zx10r sprockets. The cams are identical to the stock cams. Just with a different grind. From what I could see you would not want to get them mixed up with std cams as you can not by the eye tell them apart. The gen 4 sprockets therefore fit perfectly. They are slotted and i was able to my desired numbers with ease. The bike is running perfectly with its first run on the track this Friday. Fingers crossed.

Gum, so you were able to use the stock Camshaft sprockets from the Gen4 on the race intake for the gen4. What degree #'s did you use and did you use the stock exhaust cam or the race exhaust cam for the gen4? Could you tell any significant difference in power? Did you have any headwork done? Thin head gasket?

What did she say? - She Lida da soup!!
