This. I got really lucky once in a similar scenario... was in a bit of a group ride and decided to show my ass a bit and open up the turbo bike in sixth without the lower fairing on.... up near 190mph something felt funny, glanced down at my knees, and the bottom corners of the mid fairing were pulled out about 20" from the radiator (well past the bar ends and my knees). I got damn lucky they didn't just rip off and lacerate the shit outta me or one of my buddies.

A neat take away point from that stupidity was I could actually FEEL the drag it was creating at that speed... it felt nearly like the power loss from melting a piston.... absolute crazyness.

Attack life... it's going to kill you anyway.

So a thread came up about A-Tech belly pans.

Here are some pictures of them on a stock fairing bike.

You guys think that would be beneficial for the mile/1.5? To me it seems like it would hel a bit but I'm a n00b and figured more experienced opinions would be nice to read.

Looks nice.... and it sure can't hurt. :) Though it would honestly be a very slight improvement over stock.

I think it would be more a aesthetic thing more than a performance...

Lets say marginal.

I would put thinner HG and degree the cams, put mr12 and a good tune...

What kind of gearing do the gen 4 guys run for the 1.5 or trying to hit 200?

Looking at the brocks website they said they reccomend stock front and 37 (-2) for mile racing and 36 (-3) for 1.5 mile racing. Thinking brock's website knew best I ordered a 36 tooth one without thinking too much. Looking on the gearing commander website now it says with a 190/55/17 tire and rev limiter at 13.9k:
0/-3= 217.4mph
0/-2= 211.6mph
0/-1= 206.0mph

If I say upped the limiter to 14k
0/-3= 219.0mph
0/-2= 213.1mph
0/-1= 207.5mph

From the little bit of searching I could find it seems like the gearing commander is off by about 5mph up top due to probably a number of things. So thinking I need to get another sprocket but sprockets aren't the cheapest thing when getting aluminum ones I might not ever really use again

Remember that the bike wont get to 14000 rpms in 6th... it will go a bit less like 13600..
also you need to measure the tire perimetry and make the math, and take into account the tire elongation...

email me I can share with you a excel file that has some of this math and adapts to the tire REAL perimetry.

Guys,

We have gearing calculators online - just pick one and type in the numbers for your particular ZX-10:

On my stock length bike my gearing was set up to go through the traps in 4th gear in the quarter mile. Now that I have extended my bike 6 inches should I change the gearing to go through in 5th? ? Brocks Performance

Bummer update but I never went and did the mile and with a new baby I'm not sure if I'll get the chance to go to the standing mile races for a long while.

After I had some head work, thinner head gasket, and degree'ing the cams my bike seemed like it had solid mid range then up top it never seemed to run perfect. The tune that used to work in it before made the bike run like crap wide open and I was eventually able to get the tune to get dialed in a bit but after heading to the track it didn't go any faster than the year before. With not being any faster I didn't want to waste all the time and money and go out east.

Long story short I kept riding it and raced it a few times on the street and track to only really be about the same as last year. I just sent my injectors off to be cleaned and found out one of the upper injectors was stuck shut. That was probably why I wasn't able to dial in the tune and hopefully bike works better this summer. I found a really nice/smooth new patch of concrete like 10 minutes from my house that I could do some testing on if the bike seems better this summer.

Where are these events held? I see a lot for cars and most specifically mention no motorcycles. Anything similar to wanngofast for motorcycles?
