Holy shit, it's the Ice Man.... your bikes were hauling ass out at the mile man... rare to see a 1000cc production NA bike going that fast! Did that bike ever make it down a drag strip? I'm reeeeaal curious what its trap speed would look like. :)

Attack life... it's going to kill you anyway.

Aero is huge upwards of 130mph. FWIW, I've datalogged 200mph with no fairing in a little less than 5000 feet.... but it took about 11psi to get there. I remember Cooter metioning that just lowering the bike was worth several MPH in the half mile events.... in a mile it would be even more apparent.

Spaz,
Thanks, No have not been down the 1/4 mile.
This 2016 ZX10R is extremely fast when properly Tuned and setup
correctly.
Sal.

Ace Performance 2006 ZX10 went 197.7 and a 203.192 MPH on motor with pump gas at Maxton Mile in N.C. ECTA event
back in October 2006.

There are a few guys here doing 199 - 200 mph in 9/10ths of a mile but they are fly weights 130 - 135 lbs
That's awesome to hear What kind of aero mods did you do to it? That is if you don't mind me asking and are willing to share.

Poking around your site the head work doesn't seem too bad at all and heard head work really helps wake up the bike. Wish I could afford a whole top of the line engine package but with my wedding coming up I know the fiancée wouldn't approve of a purchase that big anytime soon. Joys of life

That I set up for him.
Those new ZX10's look pretty nasty from the little I've looked at them. I try not to look because I know I'll get sad and my gen 4 has a special place in my heart, first bike I've ever taken a big trip on (7,500+ miles) and first bike to run 8s in the 1/4. Hopefully first bike to hit 200mph on too!

The Aero mods were a cut down gas tank and a gen 1 Hayabusa
front fender.

Forgot to mention we also had a kit intake camshaft for the gen 2
2006 ZX10

Running in the 8's that is quick !

I just did a 1/2 mile event not too long ago. Bike has similar mods as yours.
Mid 170s is what I got. Dont know how much more it would have.

1/4 mile trap speeds for me are Mid 140s.

I was thinking of getting a busa front fender, hopefully it'll just bolt up. Might have to look into it more.

Did you have a thread on the 1/2 event? I think I was reading your thread if you did.

I might try to do a mile event before going out east for the 1.5 mile. The Ohio mile is a hell of a lot closer than the 1.5 mile even out in Maine.

This past weekend in good october air my bike went 8.8's a handful of times with traps always in 152. It did have a highest trap of almost 154 early in the morning with even better air. This was on pump gas, think it'd pick up 2-3 mph on some mr12 which I'd run for the standing mile stuff. This was on an extended swing arm though and I think I'd run a stock swing arm for the mile stuff. I couldn't get out of the hole like I'm used to swb but maybe get more top end over a mile.

I hit my goal of 8's on pump gas last weekend so I really, really want to do 200mph now. I'll try and save a bit of money over the winter, get the bike to the tech requirements and do a few mods to try and make sure I hit that 200mph goal at some point.

Do you guys think the bike would benefit from getting a set of track plastics? I saw a good deal on a set of hotbodies and was thinking about pulling the trigger.

From my research it should save 5-10lbs it seems and think having the belly pan on the bottom would help as well. I'm not a pro but curious if others that have more experience would think it was a worth while purchase.

I bought them for my turbo bike, if that's any indication on how I feel about it. :)

In all seriousness, aero is the name of the game after you're a 1/4 mile out.... ANYTHING you can do to reduce drag is going to play a more and more critical part in going faster at +150mph speeds than what you can reasonably do with power. The light weight is a nice bonus, but I'd rather add 10lbs and reduce the Coefficient of Drag (CoD) if at all possible. A practical example would be the 'ol original haybus... even being nearly 100lbs heavier AND down on power to the first few generations of ZX10R, they would actually start to lock (and reel in) the supersports once speeds got over 150... in stock trim no less.... I swear wouldn't believe it until I was the guy doing it.

Attack life... it's going to kill you anyway.
