Wear on tail plastic from carrying spare helmet?

On my '14 zx10, I carry a spare helmet for a passenger sometimes. When its hanging, it rubs right on the edge where the shape of the tail changes direction and wore through the paint. How can I avoid this? Im going to get a new tail section since I dont want my paint messed up, but I need to figure out how to avoid this first. Sorry pic is a little big.

Place a thick microfiber sleeve over the strap where it hangs if you absolutely have to have a helmet hang. I refuse to hang a helmet back there.

LOL..
A guy once asked me "I don't know what to do, I like to ride with jeans and my belt buckle is scratching the fuel tank! it annoys me and I don't know what to do about it! is there some fuel tank pad to prevent it from happening?"
I didn't know what to say as my bike was 3ft away from him with that pad...

Don't ever Hang a helmet there, it's no good for the helmet. I instead carry one like a back pack in a helmet bag/in a back pack
