Techmount Radar Setup

Hi Guys, I did a search on mounting a radar but I only found a thread that was from 2013.
So I figured I would put up how I mounted my radar- since I just pulled the trigger on another radar setup for my new 10r. (will post pictures when it's all in)
All of my past bikes have had some sort of setup. (Triumph Sprint, gsxrs, Z1000)

I have been running the same Passport 9500IX since 2008. Saved my ass atleast a couple hundred times.

As far as visual aided alerts go - I ran the H.A.R.D system through legalspeeding.com for years - thought it was great.
but it shit itself within a couple of years. I bought another H.A.R.D from them and nothing but problems, it fell apart, they sent me parts, and then the wires popped out of it - Shitty soldering.
I couldn't fix it, and got no support from them so I eventually tossed it out. Shitty manufacturing - I believe they went off shore to save some bucks and it ran them into the ground... they out of business but I heard they are back up again.
They aren't getting anymore business from me.

This is the LED Visual Aid warning light that I run now -
it's removed easily and plugs into the headphone jack. I just put it on by velcro. At night I face it the other way
and it lights up the windscreen.

Here's the mount I purchased - called "techmount" that attaches to the top of the fork tube- TECHMOUNT - Products

install takes a minute ...

As far as wiring the radar goes: I originally had mine wired through ignition and got false laser alerts everytime I snapped the throttle hard.
I called Escort Radar and they told me to wire it straight to the battery for the 9500ix . Pretty much fixed it.
Here's a link to the one I have on my bikes.

cheers

yes, techmount rock solid; on g4, thousands of miles, np. I run this with the TPX wireless; and audio is the ONLY way to go, but do run through batteries on the helmet wireless, WHICH must be placed low on back of helmet (ear feed goes inside).

Main unit is rock solid but I always have a back up helmet wireless on hand as these wear out; use only pricey batteries.

edit: just noticed that the new TPX wireless also has visual; idk about the visual, just the audio with the main unit works perfectly for me.

I purchased velcro to hold radar to the techmount platform.

This is how I ran my passport 8500 on my Cbr. I still need to make the mount for my 10 but it worked very very well. Just bolted inline with the windscreen

I bought a system from Larry at motorcycleradar.com. He uses a "screamer" with a switch for hi, low and off....you can hear it clearly and so can the riders behind me. I never liked the HARD system.

My Tech Mount wraps around the fork leg.

Hey guys - here's some pictures of my the techmount setup with my Escort 9500ix.

I am super happy with it. The techmount in black looks like factory. Some guys mount below the triple...
I like having it as high and forward as possible. I will mount my phone to this at the track so I can control my gopro and track apps like - Trackaddict, RaceChrono Pro

Note: you will not be able to mount the techmount on the right side unless you decide to mount it below the triple clamp.
The issue is that there is a lip that gets in the way the attaches the ohlins damper.

Here's a link to the LED visual alert that I use: super bright *I just flip it around at night

all good except visual alert is too late and gets in the way of the real business of visual riding. Been there.

The buzzer from motorcycleradar.com is immediate and a better option...and the riders behind you can hear it too.

I guess that varies from rider to rider. My experience has been over 2 seasons. The signal is instantiate. so having it set up right would make a difference.
