Well I finally took it to the shop today, got some weird looks when I trailered it there. This is the right sort of toy hauler for this bike right?

Gen5 that's just Fantastic.

Mine took 2.5 hours. It would have been faster if the engine was not hot. Basically just swap out the 4 gears. After the procedure the shifting seems smoother. No need to change the engine oil.

Just in case anyone in Canada is wondering, the price for a new oil pan and gasket was $247 after tax at my dealer.

Just got my recall notice in the mail about ten minutes ago for my '16, I haven't been on this board in awhile so it was the first time I've even heard there was a tranny problem on the Gen 5.

How many of these have grenaded that we are aware of? Were there any serious crashes involved?

Nice to know we've been riding a ticking time bomb....

Dropped mine off Wed, and was ready today, but with 50 mph winds today, I'll get it tomorrow. Does anyone here have the paperwork the shop got with it for the procedure? I'd love to see what was involved.

I have never heard of a single GEN5 transmission problem to be honest. GEN4 on the other hand..... Picked my bike up today. Dropped it off about 3 yesterday and I just barely got home and they called me and said it was done. Under 2 hours.

Didn't Johnny Rea have a tranny issue last season?

Uh oh, I still have my Gen 4, an '11 model, what happens to the tranny on those...or do I even want to know?

I am connected with a shop that does racing bike builds down in the gulf coast. They have had to rebuild 2 different gen5 transmissions in the last year.

Gen5 that's just Fantastic.

Interesting. That's the first I have heard of an issue. I had to rebuild my GEN4 a few times and even bought a spare transmission for it. Never had an issue with my GEN5.
