Bought a 2005, new to forum!

Hey guys!

Just picked up this 05 for a good deal. Got about 23k miles. been riding since 2008 but have had no bike for about 2 plus years, had a number of liter bikes before: 09 R1, S1000rr, 13 gsxr1000. Even though this things older, I think its the best looking and the performance is amazing. Really pleased with it so far. Any opinions/advice for a new owner are much appreciated!

Thanks.

Sounds like youre gonna be used to mote power, so start modding. Delivery on thw gen 1 is very deceptive as it feels way faster than it is. Makes for a fun street bike :)

Thanks guys. Im actually scared to wack it open, but I think its cause I havent ridden for 3 years. I will open her up very soon. I had to order a new exhaust because the previous owner said the end popped off. Now its a big hole. I order a OEM, couldnt find a reaonable aftermarket one I liked. Theres a akropovic that looks like the factory but in carbon but I assume its discontinued. I like that high mount pipe look. The guy I bought it off of said he was selling to get a 08 cbr1000. I know thats a good bike, but I personally think theyre ugly and I looked at the specs, Horsepower is identical to the 10r. I figured its good for me. These are not easy to find where I am, and especially in kawi green!

get your self some zx14r calipers, zx6 master, SS brake lines, steering dampener, and a quickshift kit. You will thank me later.

That's dope. 05s were the whole reason I wanted a ZX10R. From what I read, they're one of the only non speed limited bikes. Muzzy supposedly went 190+ close to 200 on a lightly modified one. You might be used to bike with steering stabilizer's though, so watch out for tank slappers. They're great bikes. Enjoy it.

Great bike!
I agree with JayBo's mod list too. Would add, if the chain needs replacing, go a couple links longer. The extra wheelbase calms the "nervous-ness" a bit.
I know it's earned the nickname "Widowmaker", but to me, a well setup '05 doesn't have a treacherous bone in it's body.
Quick, light, agile, with an edgy (lol) personality. Enjoy it!
