So to recap briefly: My 04 was stolen in Miami 2 years ago. I somehow found it 2 years to the weekend being sold on craigslist. Detectives secure the bike, it was trashed pretty good, but I stold her for $3000. A member on here, 1TP, told me he had a real nice green 2008 zx10r (my dream bike). I had been saving up since my previous bike was stolen and had the $6700 for the 2008. I drove 6 hours from Ft Benning and met 1TP at a dealership he usually gets parts from. The bike was immaculate. No dirt, grime, scratches, nada anywhere. It's bone stock except a Muzzy slip-on and fender/signal elim kit. I went and ordered a couple of things: Racefit Growler exhaust Pazzo shorty cluth/brakes system Aftermarket rear seat cowl ...BK 525 Green chain Zero Gravity double-bubble dark smoke windshield BMC race air filter ProGrip Resin tank protector Star Rotors HID 8000k conversion kit I'm going to pick up a power commander tomorrow along with some frame sliders. I was contemplating removing the secondary butterflies, figured why not since it's free and would only take an hour or so. I haven't stopped smiling the entire day, this bike is so freakin' amazing. http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/674/img0094fc.jpg

Nice bike. Respect her. I know you already know this but as easy as it is to put the power to the ground with it sometimes its a little deceiving.

i could be wrong bud but i think a lot of people have had issues with over 6000k hid heating up to hot and melting shit. From what i hear it is best to stick with the 35 watt bulbs which come with 6000k and under. check it out. Youve got an awesome machine, i love my 08. I test rode a 2010 cbr1000rr after hearing so much about them the curiousity got the better of me. i can honestly say it's a nice bike but my gen 3 kills it. i am so glad i rode it as now i appreciate just how wicked my 08 is.

I've read a lot of the arguments regarding the HIDs and from what I've gathered, there shouldn't be a problem. I never had problems with them on my other bike, not sure how different the 08 is though.

I figured that was what you was looking at. Is this an issue with the 08/09 bikes Sure is, plenty of members have had the same problem on the right side. That's a definate seal failure. Had on my 08 at a pathetic 4k miles or so. Best get it done before gets worse. If the bikes still under manufacturers warranty the seal is covered, don't be getting your wallet out on this one, let Kawasaki pick up the tab!

Beautiful bike! I love the muzzy pipe on the 08/09! Looks real nice, was thinking about picking one up myself but I don't believe they have an available db killer for that pipe. Sucks, if it wasn't for that I would probably have made you an offer. Anyway, nice bike and enjoy it!

I don't believe the warranty is still good. How expensive is it to fix this leak?

Crazy. I'm starting to think that I should have did a little more research before buying my 09 b/c now I feel like I'm hearing about issue after issue

I just went out and checked the fork; the picture made it looks like there was a lot of shine, but there was no residue or anything on either fork. They just felt/looked like smooth glosy black metal.

OP. I appreciate what your saying but the right fork seal has definately got a weep that will only get worse over time. You can see it clear as day in your first photo. Sorry thats not good news for you but not it's not expensive to have sorted if your warranty's up.

People talking about a certain CCT being too "hot" have no idea what they are talking about. The K rating of a bulb does not mean that is how hot (temperature wise) it is. It has to do with the CCT of the light emitted with respect to black body radiation.
