Most of you were not lucky enough to listen to the legendary voice of Ernie for the Detroit tigers on a daily basis but most of you that are baseball fans might be familiar with him. In 1948 he was traded from the Atlanta Crackers as an announcer to the Brooklyn Dodgers for a catcher. He has been broadcasting for 55 yrs. 42 of those with the Tigers. He passed yesterday and will greatly be missed by many. Here a couple vids of his calls and his baseball poem.
