: Nitrous kit pics direct port and 2.5lbs bracket mounting
garth285 02-21-2010, 10:01 PM Hey guys, well I'm putting the squeeze back on her... but since I sold my other nitrous kit with my other bottles I'm using the 2.5lbs bottle that was on that 12r I had...... its a 2.5lbs polished bottle and with some left over fittings and such I mounted a liquid filled nitrous gauge using a T fitting. Being that the 10r its pretty hard to hide a nitrous bottle this size even in the front fairing I wanted to make a efficient mount. So I took a stock left hand passenger peg and cut off the tabs and ground it smooth. I then made a bracket to bolt the peg assembly to the bottle bracket that I had. I had some hardware laying around so I found some really good 8mm bolts that I could run a nut on the back of so I can lock-tight everything down good.... the bracket is sold as a rock!!! I just need to make some spacers so the bracket isnt being bent in all the time, was working with what I had in the garage at the time and wanted to make sure she would hole good.... Anyways..... heres some pics

OK now for the nitrous injection part. I wanted to run a direct port nitrous set up. So I took a ride to the local murrays speed and custom and picked up a distribution block, some nylon tubing from a hardware store (temp) and some fittings I needed... I had a spare nitrous solenoid that I'm going to use which is actually way over kill but I wound up coming up with this....

I've got the jet located in the fitting that comes out of the nitrous solenoid and those lines are kinda only temporary.... I want to use the steel lines and make them exactly equal length. Even though these are only maybe a half in longer than one another I'd like to get them even. I'm also going to polish that bottle up I think, I gotta get the polishing wheel for my grinder anyways.....
I think I'm going to make the switch to running either all race gas or just a mix to keep detonation down the speed shop only had to jet sizes a .22 and a .30 which is a 17hp and a 35 according to schnitz but from what I've been told the direct injection adds the hp up a lil.... a 40 shot should be pretty good for the bike....
p.s. incase anyone is wondering about the bottle position. The bottle has a siphon tube in it which is positioned in the bottle at the same position as the valve outlet so I wanted to keep that at the lowest point in the bottle as possible this way I'm getting the liquid out of the bottle first.
edouble 02-22-2010, 04:12 AM Holy crap that bottle is huge and it honestly looks hideous hanging of the side of your bike  Wouldnt the flexible tubing that you have the nitrous coming out of whip around during a spray cycle (edit: you addressed this yourself)? I have never used nitrous so I have no idea :dontknow: but maybe someday I will :helmet:
or10r 02-22-2010, 04:45 AM Holy crap, that thing is gonna haul some serious butt.

hahah yeah I know its pretty horrible but its very functional
that tubing is actually solid as a rock and doesn't move under pressure.... I'm going to replace it with steel tubing as soon as it gets in though.
I agree with edouble, I don't think your bottle is big enough =)
FTHOODZX10R 02-22-2010, 08:21 AM it looks bigger than my bottle
lowkey420 02-22-2010, 08:45 AM :eyecrazy: what are you trying to launch with that thing? the space shuttle?!
g/l and get a clip of it in action
garth285 02-22-2010, 10:32 AM my GoPro HD will be here tomorrow (my b-day :-) ) so I'll def have some vids of her in action
Weazel 02-22-2010, 10:40 AM Holy F-ing huge ass bottle. Coming from the land of overkill. that is awesome.
garth285 02-22-2010, 10:43 AM lol... yeah yeah yeah I know :-p its all good though, I was trying to make a bold statement
Weazel 02-22-2010, 10:45 AM Statement made, the cops will look the other way and all who will oppose will fall away behind you
chogue 02-22-2010, 10:57 AM Nitrous, its like a hot a chick with an STD. You know you want to hit it, but are scared of the consequences
garth285 02-22-2010, 11:00 AM lol very true......
as long as shes set up right it will be all good :-)
I'm going to try to get my hands on some VP fuels... with my compression near 14.2:1 I dont wanna risk detonation :-D
Bandana 02-22-2010, 11:02 AM Hi Garth
Nice looking beast , BTW there the cops would say nothing about the bottle !! because here they will give you shit :headshake on that one if found on the bike in the street.
Or you are faster :thefinger then them
mr747 02-22-2010, 06:19 PM god damn garth
hellsrazor 02-25-2010, 02:48 PM Anybody got any pics of a little more discreet bottle. lol
I wanna tuck mine away.
garth285 02-25-2010, 02:51 PM lol you can tuck a 1lbs bottle in the tail section if you cut a little part of the subframe cross over bar, the one that holds the rear seat latch
PearlOrange04 02-25-2010, 02:58 PM I dont think the GPS is going to be able to keep up this time lol
garth285 02-25-2010, 03:06 PM pshhhh I'm slow, a cbr1000 beats me :-p
JLAudio11 02-25-2010, 03:10 PM Looks good Garth. When I had my wet hit on this bike I actually had a 2.5lb bottle mounted up front where my right headlight would be. I'm sure you have plenty of space up there as well. The former pass. footpeg does make it look a little cleaner but that bottle does stick out like a sore D*ck.
garth285 02-25-2010, 03:17 PM hahaha yeah with the 06 fairings and the ram air duct its a pretty tight fit... also I learned many times racing how much of a difference in power the bike will make with the siphon tube actually doing its job,.... the way I have this bottle positioned I'll get liquid in the lines every time until shes empty lol.....
When you sit on the bike its not that bad looking at all :-)
edouble 02-25-2010, 05:48 PM Hey Garth, is there a simple plug and play nitrous kit available for the 06-07 ZX10R? Also somewhat safe to run with 93 octane and a stock motor? :badteeth:
garth285 02-25-2010, 06:04 PM muzzys makes one, you still have tio do some small wiring....
GSXR1300's spray bar I think slides right into the air box to
I've ran 40 shots on 93 :-)

I have no problem soldering connections and fabricating brackets. Do you have a specific kit "all-in-one" that you can direct me to? Thanks
10 ninja r 02-25-2010, 07:18 PM i love my mps set-up w/ spraybar

I was just checking that system out
garth285 02-26-2010, 09:56 AM I have installed dynotune kits before and honestly, if your looking for something simple and running a small shot which I even think they go to a 40-50 shot on those kits those are just fine.....
I was just going to suggest checking out those kits or simply putting a kit together by your self but the dynotunes are pretty good, just make sure you dont get the crappy c02 bottles with adapters, 1 those are cheezzzy as all hell and 2 they dont flow that much.
I just finished modding my airbox that was on my bike last night to fit everything in and let the silicone thats sealing the line goings into the bike sit over night. I'll have her ready to rock by tomm.... I think the jets I have will give me 25hp and 40hp so I'ma just run the 25hp pill for now. I tested the system again last night with a 700psi bottle and its working pretty well so just gotta finish wiring and put airbox back in and we'll be set to go :-)
I just really gotta get a smaller nitrous solenoid, I'll post up a pic of my temp one tonight lol....
edouble 02-26-2010, 11:16 AM Thanks, looking forward to your pics
garth285 02-28-2010, 08:27 PM OK heres my hideous nitrous solenoid lol.... I gotta order a small one sometime soon but this will suffice.

I got to test her out this weekend with my jockey. I still think I gotta give the motor a once over but she still ran 194mph on GPS on motor with a 170-180lbs rider. Lowered half way in the rear and I think 1.75" in the front... also had my seat with no cushion on as well.
http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae251/garth285/DSC05271.jpg
Going to go back out to the garage and raise her back up to stock height tonight.
edouble 02-28-2010, 08:42 PM Do you switch maps during nitrous runs? Are you using the stock header?

I actually wire in a relay so that as soon as the nitrous is activated it switches over to a nitrous map and as soon as you let off the spray it goes back to a motor map. its a one relay very simple to hook up sorta thing.
I have a Yosh Full system

Are you running a multi hub to do this relay?
garth285 02-28-2010, 09:57 PM yeah the multifunction hub switch that comes with the hub is just a 2 wire switch, once you connect the 2 wires it switches to the second map.... So all you have to do is wire the relay to activate when ever power is provided to the nitrous solenoid and then that relay connects those 2 wires for you.
This is the best way to set it up because if your worrying about switching back out of a nitrous map into a motor map with some handle bar mounted switch your gunna be trying to flip switches at triple digits instead of paying attention to the race.
zx-sik-r 03-01-2010, 04:05 PM GARTH! for pete sake have your painter paint the underside of that tank!! everytime i see your bike i see orange under the tank lol drives me nuts...im a painter i guess thats why im anal:lol:
garth285 03-01-2010, 04:19 PM hahahahaha, maybe I'll just tape it off and rattle can her lol....
I'm going to paint her again sometime soon :-) lol

That's what I was wondering about right there.
