My PC may have a virus. It's running slow and I get pop-ups. Also, my Norton is not automatically protecting my computer. When I try to set it to auto protect, the check box will not check. Does anyone know of some good spyware / virus protection I can download to try to quarantine this shit?

I use AGV and it has worked well for me.

Spybot Search & Destroy has worked great in addition to AGV.

I would also suggest to boot your pc into safe mode when you run the scan and make sure you update the definitions after you finish the install. I do this stuff for a living. lol

Been using AVG for 3+ years now. I build probably 12 PC's a week and it's been a great "Free" Anti-Virus. Malwarebytes is great for removing spyware/ malware. Also, if you get the "Fake Alert" virus/ malware... good luck to cleaning that shit off. I'm an I/T tech of 10 years and it's almost impossible to clean it out completely. I've running about 50% success rate right now.

Got hit by that one on the same day as a handful of coworkers and friends. I'm not sure how our IT guy dealt w/ it, but I've been problem free since.

AVG & Malawarebytes work great for those needing a free solution. I also suggest running the latest McAfee stinger http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

Because I had a Norton subscription, I contacted them. I gave them a description of what was wrong and they said it was malware. They would fix it for $99.99. Nope! I paid them good money to prevent this stuff and I'm not going to pay them again to get rid of it. Malwarebites' is scanning my pc right now. Thanks Miykl. And thanks to the person who pm'ed me for the virus software. I'm using it right now.
