How many pepole followed the break in recomendation ? or how did you all break yours in ? Im not going exactly by the book, ive got 301 miles on mine, and i take it up to 5k RPM regularly, and every now and then will hit 7k or 8k, then go right back to below 5k. Bike is doing great, no problems, cant wait to open it up full throttle. I think the main things to be concerned about in break in is proper warm up and always keeping a load on the engine, whether accelerating or decelerating.........

I followed the break-in rules from Kawasaki for the most part. On rare occasion I opened it up just a little.

By the book. The first 500 miles were the longest 500 miles I have ever experienced.

I was going to "follow the book" but I think I'm going to finish the break-in (700 more miles) following what Yamaha recommends for the R1. 4000 rpm just gets you run over on the freeway.

Here is an interesting point of view on break-ins. I plan on following this next time: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Please stop the madness! I can't take another thread on the "proper" break-in method...or what's the best exhaust...or is synthetic oil better...or what's the best colour...BLACK of course.

By the book. First service tomorrow at 630 miles. It's been a blast since the 500 mile point. The dilithium crystals are becoming nicely smoothed. Can't wait for warp factor 9.6

Exactly Zed. I just hit the 800 km mark yesterday and finally brought my baby up to 6000 rpm today. What a difference that 2000 rpm means. I am still a little shocked. ________ Fix Ps3 (http://fixps3.info/)
