I'm going to get my tranny undercut but as I stated before I was having some issues with me going from 5th into 6th gear and there's some grind and clunk so I would assume my dogs are bad. So I was wondering what was the difference that Kaw made to the 05 tranny and if it was a direct fit into my 04? Also the generator from the 05 is a direct fit also? Since the 04 is notorious for having some major break downs on them I figured I'd go ahead and replace it while my engine is out and being worked on. Also getting cams, shift star and thin gasket. Any other suggestions on what else I should replace or upgrade while my motor is apart? Thanks jb

To the best of my knowledge, the 04-05 generators are interchangeable (based on my playing around with a few of them).

I was thinking that EVERYTHING on the 04-05 motors were virtually the same with the exception of the generator and tranny but I figured it would be interchangeable also. So at least the generator is out of the way. Anyone with insight on the 05 tranny fitting into the 04?

So knowing they are different trannys but same motor was the question if it was a direct swap and wondering if anyone knew first hand.

So assuming my dog is rounded on my 04 I was going to purchase a good 05 tranny then have it undercut because the 05's are reportedly the better year tranny. I'll look into that 1st gear though.

no not at all go to schnitzracing they have it there buy new shift forks and brocks shift shafts and do the factory pro shift star tranny will shift like butter send the trany to r&d or fast by gast for the tranny or call cycle concepts dwayn will point you in the right direction or ever take care of you he is a class act

cycle concepts is a site sponser. and alot of boys on here reccommend them. as far as answers to your questions, shoot garth a pm. from what i've read he's had is hand in alot of 10's. he could get you the answers your looking for.

schnitz out of INDY the trans should drop right in all the bearings are the same.

i believe they are interchangeable

im assuming im far too late but i think the generators have letter markings that are important to match between years
