hey guys, i really wanna clean up the rear of the bike, i do actually like the handle look but i wanna switch it up for a while, i know that 1st gen exhaust will fit and a slip on is alot cheaper than slip on handles......i know a pipe can be fabbed at an exhaust shop but i would like some ideas, post up pics of 1st gen exhaust on 2nd gens if you got em, i searched but of course came accross 100000 results for "exhaust" so hook a brotha up thanks :helmet:

I have been wanting to do this to my wheelbarrow since I bought it and now I have a hard on to do it today...I know the slip on flange is the same connecting to the collector on the 1st and 2nd gen, but not sure if the angle of the 1st gen mid pipe will clear the swingarm (I know the plate and fairing have to be trimmed). Let me know if you know or if someone else knows or if your momma knows...I have to do this mod yesterday!!!! :drool:

No it is not a direct bolt on. You will need to have a shop custom bend some pipe from the end of the cat outlet to the 05 inlet on the exhaust.

Just as an FYI I think Tuzum fitted up a 05 full system to his 06. The only mod he had to do was lengthen it by 1.5" if I remember correctly.

Seriously its not going to take but a couple hours longer. If you get a full system you just need a couple spacers, if you go with a slip-on you need to have muffler shop (Midas did mine) fab up a small mid-pipe which will only take a couple hours. Seriously....I beg you......DONT BE A PUSSY!

will you two stop it :ninnyslap: so midas may be able to help me huh...hmm, I have been thinking of just doing a little heating/bending of the mid pipe that comes with the 05 aftermarket pipe its gotta be really fukin close to working from what I can see just eyeing it up without taking the bike apart

^^In order for it to clear correctly you will need a mid-pipe fabbed up trust me. I spent a better part of a day trying to figure it out. And yes I'm going to cut the Akro down a bit this winter kids!

did midas look at you like you had two heads when you asked them to do this for you? can you post a pic closer to that little piece? it looks like it needs to be like 45 degrees back after the flange then straight back and up?...or did they just make you a mid pipe that would work, its hard to tell. I guess I could ride it up there with the exhaust off if I have to, certainly aint leavin it for test rides!!!!!!!

Actually the guys there thought it was pretty cool. You're basically right it just needs a 45 out of the cat to come up and then a slight bend after it comes up past the swingarm. I will take a pic tomorrow and post it up.

sweet, thanks bud, I have 2 2nd gen full mid pipes and 2 1st gen pipes, I bet with all those bends elbows, straights I could probably come up with sumpin that would work and just have it all tig welded together, but I like your idea better konichd

Or buy a cheap bender for $100 and play with what you think is the best setup.

a cheap bender? Man if I could tig weld I would mass produce these fukkers, I have talked to like every aftermarket exhaust mfg and nobody is interested in making this pipe to make a side out for the 2nd gen, ask me I think they are stupid
