: Questions about the new pilot powers tires??
vizsladog 02-15-2005, 12:29 PM Straight from michelin north america...
Sean
I had the opportunity to view some the messages on your message board this morning particularly with the discussions about Power Race tires.
It seems their is some confusion even in our ranks...so to set the record straight I have prepared a sheet for you to identify what tires are designed for street vs track. ( See Attachment).
In Short...
Pilot Power is the premier street/trackday tire, other great trackday tires are Pilot Sport Cup and Pilot H2.
Power Race Soft, Power Race Medium offer very limited use on the street (20%)...these are real race tires! Most riders will go faster on these tires than the S2/M2 from last year.
Power Race Medium Soft, PR1- PR5 are 100% race track due to complex compounding which do not work well on the street.
This type of tire was only available last year to the very top riders. For 2005 all racers have a choice because these tires are available to everyone.
I hope this helps clear up the confusion on your chat room.

vizsladog 02-15-2005, 01:58 PM Lol...
Just trying to clear up any confusion on these tires.
Dc's are good tires...just not for me.
Big Daddy 02-15-2005, 02:19 PM It seems the PR1-5 are vastly diff from Michelin DOT tires from years past in that the overall carcass construction is more supple.

vizsladog 02-15-2005, 02:40 PM The feedback and predictablity is also a million, zillion times better.
I never liked michelins, the pilot sport was awful.
The pilot power is so vastly different it's silly.
zx9rmal 02-16-2005, 11:13 AM I've used both the Diablo Corsas and Pilot Powers on my 10R. The DC's are GREAT, but the Powers are absolutely INCREDIBLE.
For now, the Powers are the only tire I will use.

miykl 02-16-2005, 02:24 PM Never used the DC's but I'm totally sold on the PP's. Still going back to a 180 though. The 190 just feels "lazy" to me. Slower turn in. Besides, with the 180 I use all the rear tire on the street (no chicken strips). With the 190 I've got strips. Fuggs with my pose'n points! LOL

miykl 02-16-2005, 02:53 PM sheeeeeeee- Pesky has over 7k on his front tire and still hasn't worn off the yellow stripe!!! He's straight line only.
miykl 02-16-2005, 02:54 PM Besides, it's b/c i get off the bike. not a lazy old fuggar sittin square in the saddle all the time!
vizsladog 02-16-2005, 03:00 PM I always ran 180's but switched back to 190's as recomended by michelin.
It has more side grip for sure.
I pulled my forks up 10mm to compensate.
MAVRIK 02-16-2005, 03:00 PM Ouch....ball To You Bd
