It is likely that the chain is getting bad. They will start to kink up when they need replacing. Try lubing it real well and see if it gets better or stops it all together. If not, its time for a new one. How many miles do you have on the bike approximately?

Completely normal. All (95%) o-ring chains will do that as they wear. How many miles are on it?

as the fellas ^^ mention its completely normal as the miles add up however depending on how bad the high & low spots are will usually dictate its replacement. BD

yea if thats the mileage on the chain/sprockets too then more than likely its complete replacement time. BD :+1: And just for what its worth. I have an RK chain that has been great. My sprockets are sprocket specialists. Nothing too major with them. They are plain but have worn really well.

18k on the bike...and I am going to order the chain & sprocket kit..-1 +1 A good winter project. Just figure ($$$) in a Speedohealer to correct for the new gearing. We just did a set of Vortex and Regina 520. Runs great, but it really puts a pucker factor into wide open throttle in 1-3 gears trying to keep the front end down.

That combo is perfect for me(04 10R) when the bike is lowered I bet it's a handful in stock condition 1-3 gears on your bike. :badteeth:

yea if thats the mileage on the chain/sprockets too then more than likely its complete replacement time. BD Absolutely, Because, anymore miles is getting seriously bad real fast, not worth it at all. A lot of chat came on another chain thread (about the correct way to adjust for slack amount) and the word kink or kinky came out. It isn't about kinky because it shouldn't ever see kinky. It isn't about getting fixed with lube, because by the time anyone has 18,000 -20,000 miles on, the inner lube that can't be fixed, has served it's life. The area's found to be tighter and looser as the wheel is turned, is just the way a chain deteriorates, it is not possible to detererate precisely the same at every roller (and what is inside the roller to the pin). So.... bottom line..... get the replacement sprockets and chain on, and you did real well to get what you did out of the chain, it could of been worse

Sweet. I hope to gear up one more on the back too.= -1,+1 I can hardly imagine having more torque coming out of the corners. Can spin my race tires now. Man, come on summer!

A lot of cheaper sprockets are stack punched, and they are not the best for roundness. The actual sprocket can be off centre causing this , although doubtful if the sprocket is oem

The actual sprocket can be off centre causing this , although doubtful if the sprocket is oem As a tool&Die maker and working in factories at that and the maintenence of dies, pretty much my whole working life, That sounds weird. I'm sure sprockets are punched and I have no doubt gang machined (in fact gang machining the teeth, or drilled holes, would be the only efficient way), but stack punched?, can't picture it. Where did this info come from?
