i have a 06 zx10r over the last 7 thousand miles it has found a few extra neutrals especially changing down 5th to 4th, but i put up with it, but one day slowing down the traffic it found a false neutral, clattered and crashed back into 4th but was cruising, But when next put the gearbox under load i found 4th gear was now jumping in and out. so i limped the bike about from where i was, but after a while i noticed clutch slip and lots of lever play then suddenly it was ok, i so i took it into the local dealers who then stripped it, Kawasaki Uk wanted to see the parts and asked me to contact them. They told me it was down to my operator error, strange that i have had bikes for over 20 years and the only gearbox problems was from my c1 zx9r which then had revised parts put in then that gearbox did 130,000 miles in 7 years so i do think with my 21 years of road riding i would know how to change gear ok. They have then said they will replace the bad parts and labour under a good will Gesture, but i have to sign a disclaimer form saying that if it happens again they won't do it again for free? So they are telling me i am to sign my warranty away so that 3 years warranty is only valid for that component failure once THAT SUCKS . Now imagine the dealer installs a thrust washer the incorrect size or i find i run the bikes gear box back in and the moment i go to nail it, the box goes wrong i am then F*cked am i not? Who is has had this Rubbish being told to them as well i am to take this matter to MCN a weekly news paper in this country and see what they can do for me. Also i contacted the previous owner and he said the bike did the false neutrals many times on him. Kawasaki have told me the whole gear box was trashed and it was down to my heavy usage what tosh the bikes only 12thousand miles old. All the gears show wear on the dogs, as the owner previously had said it had missed gears when nailing the thing but once was in gear was ok. Any one else with trashed gears on a 06 zx10r?

sounds like operator error to me. Usually that happens from pussy shifting. Mine is a 04, but it has the most positive feeling gearbox out of any bike I have ever ridden.

Sounds like the problem.... Another reason why I only buy new bikes, unless I really, really know the person selling it. Chris

Previous owner is to blame, not you. I'd take the free fix and sell it ASAP. At least they'll repair it and not leave you completely fooked.

:+1: Have them fix it. If there was a problem from the original gearbox the attention to detail will be better the second time around. OR the original owner was a ham footed squid who did the damage. Either way it probably wont happen again. Get it fixed, sell it, and get an 08.
