: Fuel Gauge On my 07 ZX10?
EvoSport 08-19-2007, 04:28 PM Ok so i was looking at my gauge yesterday and i seen that it has a Fuel gauge already in it. I have bin told that the euro ones have one , Dose anyone know how to get this to work ? I looked at the Z1000 that did come with one and sall that it has a fuel gauge sender , Could this be the missing link to get it to work or is there another way? If you have a Euro model can you let me know if you have one on your 06 or 07 and maybe some part #'s of the missing parts needed to get this to work? here is a pic of one with it active. Thanks.

SUPER K 08-19-2007, 05:39 PM If you look very closely at the upper right hand of the gauge in the right lighting you can see a fuel indicator. It's there in the LCD crystals, wether or not kawi included the wiring in the gauges harness or not? What type on sending unit does the Z1000 use? If the sending unit rheostat fits our tank/fuel pump itr could be plug n play.
EvoSport 08-19-2007, 05:55 PM I have seen that and thats what made me look into this.
The Z1000 has the same part# for the fuel pump but it has a Fuel gauge sender
in the tank Part # 52005 This is from a 07 model but same as the 06 .

SUPER K 08-19-2007, 06:42 PM Could be done. You'd probably have to braze in some nuts inside the tank to make a secure mounting point for the sending unit. Wirring should be straight forward as long as the gauge has the wires in the main plug. I wouldn't be at all suprised if a plug is already present in the loom at the tank location. Manufacturers cut as many corners as possible, using the same wiring harness in a few different models wouldn't be a suprise. Seems they already used the gauges from the 10/Z1000, windscreen 636/ZX10, rear seat cowl 636/ZX10.

:dontknow: What?
EvoSport 08-19-2007, 07:33 PM I know that the pics dont always show how it really is but if you look at the 06 tank over the first 07 tank of the z1000 it looks like the Gauge sender mounts on top of the Fuel pump and not under the tank. so there may not be any need to cut the tank just mod the pump.
SUPER K 08-19-2007, 07:33 PM If I get some spare time this week, I'll root around the wiring harness under the tank and look for the connector, If I find on I'll test it, jump it, and see if the gauge lights up on the dash. From there it'll be spending approx 150 bucks on parts and then drillin holes in my perfect tank. Anyone have a totalled gas tank for the 2nd gens lying around they'd let go for shipping fees only? If I can make this work I will do a step by step with pics.

The pic shows the gasket for the sending unit on top of the unit, you wouldn't need a gasket on top of the flange if it mounted to the top of the pump. Besides that, how would the float get a reading of low fuel sitting on top of the pump? I believ e it requires it's own hole.

http://houseofmotorcycles.bikebandit.com/parts/Kawasaki/NINJA+ZX+-10R(ZX1000D6F+(US))/2006/2138435 harness is exact same part number with a 200 dollar difference btween the Z1000 AN ZX10r. Ouch KHI is puttin it to ya even though it's the same part for both machines. Looks like this is very doable, only hard part is cuttin a hole in the tank and providing anchor points. I'm tellin ya, all I need is the tank, I'll order the float assembly and gasket.
SUPER K 08-19-2007, 07:50 PM Paging FAF, we need FAF in here as he's been dealing with the fuel system a lot recently in his pump mod.
EvoSport 08-19-2007, 08:01 PM Hey thanks for all the feedback and it you get this to work , i will deff do it alsow, and if you wana make a kit out of it just let me know and ill be the first to get one from you. I think im going to go to my local salvage yard and see if they have a Z1000 tank so i can see how its mounted and try to get some pics.
SUPER K 08-19-2007, 09:03 PM I'll be in no major hurry, don't hold yer breath, I got a 40 hr + work week and a new born.
big_gaz 08-20-2007, 03:18 AM Just a quick point to note. The Euro models do not have a fuel gauge either. If you do fit one, post a how to on it. Think it might be rather more expensive than you imagine.
