: Optimal Gearing for the track?
Blink180Wilhelm 06-30-2007, 04:40 PM I am thinking of re-gearing the bike for the strip. Just curious what you all think. Its an 06 10r, that wont be ridden much on the street. Right now its just lowered, but extensions are on the way if that matters. I was thinking of going -1 in the front and +2 in the rear. Let me know if this is good gearing or if I should change it, thanks.
Hattori Hanzo 06-30-2007, 04:48 PM Sounds good to me but i'm not an expert on drag racing so wait till drag racing gurus reply.
Vince10R 06-30-2007, 04:48 PM 16,41 is a good starting point.
Ruthless Racing 06-30-2007, 05:28 PM How much do you weigh? :dontknow:

bodyglove 07-01-2007, 07:31 PM i'm 195 pounds what you think about 15 / 38 , lowerd and strapped, with air shifter , stock wheel base
Vince10R 07-01-2007, 09:23 PM i'm 195 pounds what you think about 15 / 38 , lowerd and strapped, with air shifter , stock wheel base
That is almost exactly the same as 16/41.
Ruthless Racing 07-01-2007, 09:28 PM At 195lbs and SWB 15/40 would prolly do good.
Blink180Wilhelm 07-02-2007, 04:31 AM 170 no leathers. What you think?
Ruthless Racing 07-02-2007, 07:19 AM 170 no leathers. What you think?
Yes, with extensions 16/42 will be good gearing. On SWB it will be a handful. :helmet:
Blink180Wilhelm 07-02-2007, 03:09 PM Sorry for my ignorance or just stupidity but whats SWB? Thanks for answering my questions.
Blink180Wilhelm 07-02-2007, 03:25 PM Ahh duh. Is there any benefit to keeping a swb than going long other than being easier to ride on the street?

Stock WheelBase. SWB is just more of a challenge and when you run better numbers than a bunch of stretched bikes it makes it that much sweeter.
casey 07-02-2007, 04:02 PM Kenny are you only competing in two classes this year? I haven't had a chance to check the leaderboard lately.... you still running up top?

When I was running my 04 stock motor and slammed on the ground 15/39 was the gear I ran. I weigh 145lbs suited.

Yeah bro. Extended my points lead in SuperSport with another win in Memphis and fell back to 5th in Street ET points.
hesaves0211 07-04-2007, 12:41 PM damn so thats what you ran low 9s with? was it stretched or just pure seat time that kept it down?

I've never owned a stretched bike bro.

BigTexZX10 07-04-2007, 06:15 PM I'm needing some help as well RR. There are a bunch of guys that street race out here in West Texas. I've done some PMRA Racing in the past with an old GSXR 1100 so I know how to race heads up. Problem is, these guys out here all have 05,06, and a few 07 GSXR 1000's. Anyways, I went out there last weekend and they do roll on's @ 30 mph and go through the 1/4. I smoked this dude 3 out of 4 times and they all got pissed off and couldn't believe that my bike could beat this guys. His was an 05GSXR 1000, piped, PC w/custom map and filter. Anyways he said he's gonna gear it down and meet up w/me again. Now I have a BMC race filter installed and have yet to put on my PCIII, TRE and Akra Race pipes. When I do all of this, what gearing should I do to utilize my power of the bike on a 30 mph roll on. I weigh 145 lbs. geared up like you. Eventually I'm chasing after these two "fastest" GSXR's in town which supposedly run low 9's with hot cams and geared and piped and who knows what else. I just want to put the beat down on them because they think their sh**t don't stink and they ignore me because I ride Kawasaki. Anyways, help me out anyone....
By the way, I want to accomplish this on a SWB cause like you said, victory taste's sweeter that way.
Thanks
Mike

The 10R is very capable, the only reason I'm on a gixxer is because it's setup better for the rules I have to go by. When we do roll-ons around here we start in 2nd at about 60mph and run them, don't wheely as bad. Since ya'll are running at 30mph and I'm assuming in 1st, I'd go 1 down in front and put you a strap on it. As long as your tucked and hit your shift points it will be close. Keep us updated bro.

Yeah, I run 520 stuff on my bikes. Good Luck bro!!!

I agree with ruthless... I'm 145 as well and geared -1,tre and lowered 1.5 and have yet to be beat by similar gixers as you described. Our secret to our success is our body weight and the 10 of course. If you install your tre,-1 sprocket, power commander and pipe, You will not lose!!! (that is if you can ride) With your mods... You are a force not to be wreckin with!
