Well I have been a member to this site for almost a year now and haven't really got to know/ride with any local members, was wondering if any of you have done HWY 18 or would be interested in heading up that way with me sometime?
Just a little info on me and the route... Yes I am 23 and most of you are old enough to be my dad, and I feel this discourages most of you older chaps to even contemplate riding with me! I understand that some of you must think I'm an "inexperienced rider" due too my age, that is fine everybody is entitled to their own opnion! I took a MSF course and was valedictorian of my class (NOT BOASTING). I started on a 98 GSXR 600 (which crapped out on me last year) and instead of putting more money into a moneypit I got assistance on getting a 06 ZX-10R. Not big into doing wheelies seeing as its my everyday rider and feel the 10 was not intended for that, I do the speed limit due to the fact that I pay my own insurance and don't need to go to court or have my rates increased or even worse not be able to ride. Yes I have opened her up to about 140 "I'm only human!" Anyways what I am trying too say is that I know there is balls to the walls power in the 10 and comming from a 600 makes me respect the power I have in the plam of my hand!!!
Now about HWY 18, I use to travel this route every Sun. due to the fact that my girl can only go snowboarding on Sun. There are many sweeping truns and some sharp curves. Speed limit is 55mph and drops to 30mph sometimes. Since it was such a horrible season for snow there isn't any run off from the mountain and the temperature is about 70-80 around 11a.m. There is no salt build up due to that fact that there wasn't much snow this year and the traffic is clean due to the mountain resorts closing.
The travel to the bottom of the mountain is roughly an hour and a half from Irvine Spectrum and from the bottom of the 18 to Big Bear Lake is about thirty min. The trip is a whole day event and I really enjoy this ride much rather than Ortega or Palomar!!!
I will be headed up there this Sat. 03/17/07 leaving around 9a.m. (will have pics when I get back).

I would be down for a Sunday ride this weekend. As I live in La Quinta (25 miles east of Palm Springs), I would need to meet up with you some where. I am actually have to go up Sunday to Lake Arrowhead, which is on the way.

The reason I chose Sat. is due to that being Dan's day off...
I'm always down for a ride and don't mind doing Big Bear twice!!!
There is a AMPM and Mc D's right off Baseline and the 30/330 at the base of the Mtn. where we could meet up and gas.

No problem, as it stands right now I have to work Saturday in Riverside on a friends computer systems and will be taking my cruiser since I have to carry some computer tools. But Sunday sounds good and as it stands right now is do able. I will post here Saturday night to confirm. But if something changes, I will be there tomorrow. If I do make tomorrow, where and when do you want me to meet you?
Take care and ride safe Saturday....

That is ok, cause I'm beat from the ride Deepsix (Jeremy) and I had today.
I was just thinking about taking a stroll on PCH tomarrow anyways, you take care of yourself out there and enjoy your ride as well!
