josh hayes's green machine broke down early in the race.... This worries me about kawi's flagship machine  I think theres one more out there and I hope it finishes the race. I've mostly been a win on sunday and sell on monday type of guy....what about you guys?

I wish I could buy mine monday. :) Did they ever say what the problem was? Doesn't bother me, both Bostrom bros' bikes went out too. Would of liked to see them give Mladin a run. O well, still happy with the result.

They said the cush drive broke on the marchesini wheel, therefore not a Kawasaki problem.

Jeez. Chill out people. Why are so many people looking for the worst in the ZX10? Like the earlier post reported, a Marchsini wheel broke. Not a standard Kawasaki part. How could you have watched the race and not heard what the cause was?

At least Kawasaki riders don't break down, being the stable, rational people that they are. The loonies ride and slide on GSXrS... So that's what full-face helmets are for...

Racebikes (at least the superbikes) are supposed to be highly tuned and ligthened so somewhere/sometime a new bike will break down. So what :?: The Bertocchi bikes running in WSB are at the moment mainly standard and they didn't break down. Clemeneti (like Laconi) managed to fell of in the warm up lap in race one but the bikes were ok. :) And Marchesini wheels have a reputation of breaking down, ask the IOM TT boys (Robert Dunlop for instance)

dude im damn shure not lookin for the worst, but that shit kinda scares me. when i demoed the bike it shifted great. whenever i let out the clutch on down shifts it made a crack, i wasnt worried about it then i just figured it was cus of the slipper clutch. i didnt get to push it hard enough where it might have a hard time shifting though. you best believe when i go to pick mine up (hopefully sometime this week) im gonnna give it a good once over. i think most of the bs is people thinking that the 10r is to good to be true. alot of my friends ride kawi,NONE of their bikes have been plagued with problems.my zx9r has been through 26.000 miles of pure hell!! im talking about gut wrenching abuse and has yet to give me any problems.

As enthusiasts we know mass produced machinery like this will vary from unit to unit so take light in the fact they are not and never will be perfect. BD

A Marchesini wheel breaking on a ZX10 Superbike should not give you the slightest concern. It has nothing to do with the bike you are buying. And you should be able to hear noises out of the slipper clutch if you put enough backload on it. By all means, check out your new ride thoroghly. Just try to make sure that you know the difference between right and wrong, when you do.
