SiDeWaYZz28 06-18-2006, 06:20 PM Hey whats up everybody

Im trying to make up my mind on which bike to get. what are the cons and pros between these bikes..Ive been doing alot of research but I would mind having some more knowledge dropped on me..Thursday is the day im going in to pick up my bike so my mind needs to be made up by then..I really want to go with the 636..Im curious to know why the zx-6rr cost more then the 636??thanks for the help and opinions guys:helmet:
AFMEDIC 06-18-2006, 06:27 PM Street rider or track? What do you plan to do? That's the diff between the two. After you have answered that question your decision will be much easier. Basically you can get the extra 37cc's to terrorize other 600's on the street if that's where you ride :badteeth:

hangman39 06-18-2006, 07:22 PM Get the latest sportrider you might be surprised at what you read most of the testers chose the 6RR over the 6r even with the lower horsepower they say it handles much better and was overall a great bike. Also read what they say about the new Super R6 said it is not worth a crap for the street because it has zero mid range have to keep it above 8000 rpm's to ride.
PuertoRicoZX10 06-18-2006, 08:10 PM i like the RR better.
SiDeWaYZz28 06-18-2006, 09:33 PM around what time of the year does kawi realease there newer models like the o7'? jan of 07?
10 speed 06-18-2006, 11:31 PM the 636 has 36 more cc's so the second r gets torn off at high speeds. go w the 636...
SuicideMachine 06-18-2006, 11:49 PM 6RR - great beginner bike for those w/ any brains. 36cc is about a 3-5hp difference between the 636 and 6RR - you won't miss it. The 6RR is a great track machine too. And when you upgrade to a larger street bike, you've still got a hell of a track bike, or a SS-legal racebike w/ tons of potential. :helmet:
hangman39 06-19-2006, 05:54 PM 6R top speed of 166.1
6RR top speed of 156.9 (gearing limited)
6RR has close ratio gearbox 6R does not suspension is better on 6RR
6R 1/4 mile 10.583
6RR 1/4 mile 10.871
SuicideMachine 06-19-2006, 06:12 PM :+1: close-ratio gearbox rules!
smileyman 06-20-2006, 03:37 PM My 05' 636R has better stock suspension than my Race Tech forked /Fox Shock Race only SV650. And it is pretty damned smooth. You want exclusivity and like green go for the RR. If you like other colors go 636.
PS if you go 600 RR splurge another $550 for the race kit ECU and plug into another 10 hp...no other changes required.
If you hang around till november you can get a good look at the early press on the '07 but in reality it will not be any great difference than the 06 performance wise. Maybe some styling changes and subtle performance stuff, although some european press say the 636 engine has seen it's development curve and Kawasaki has to come out with something all new to meet Euro 3 emissions so what do we know?
o6zx-6rr 06-20-2006, 03:47 PM There isn't much difference between the 2 accept the cc's. I bought the 6rr and honestly I'm glad I bought it over the 636. The 636 has more torque and less hp, while the 6rr has more hp and less torque. Man I love my 6rr. Just don't tell my girl friend that! But if your serious about hitting the track read the other postings. There are limits depending on what league you join. Best of luck man

Is this a fact??
Also for the lazy (me), what other differences between the R and RR? What is the difference in suspension? Enough to make aftermarket not needed on the RR??
smileyman 06-21-2006, 08:38 AM IMHO for most intermediate riders you don't have to touch the suspension on either 636 or 600. I just finished the STAR School on my 636 bone stock suspension and ran faster times than I have ever run racing with the CMRA (the STAR instructors were on GSXR600/750's with stock suspension and they had no trouble showing the fastest guy in the advanced group their tailight.) If your going to race in competition you gotta upgrade 'cause all the other racers will.
As for the kit ECU sportrider magazine did an article on the 600RR and they tested it with the kit ECU but did not have the parts or time to fit an aftermarket exhaust or power commander. They were shocked to see a 10 hp gain in peak and small improvement on the mid range. I am sure someone has a copy, maybe something on the sportrider site about it. It was back in 2005?
I installed a Race Kit ECU on my otherwise stock 636 and while it didn't feel like 10 hp, I know it revved quicker and pulled harder stock exhaust and all.
miykl 06-21-2006, 09:32 AM I need to find that article. Sounds like the ECU is the better mod over a slip on if so. Does it do the same as the jumper wire mod maybe? ...too much to learn when thinking about a new bike. Part of ther fun!
as for suspension... I'm a Fatty. Gonna at least need a spring swap.

As far as know it is. Before I bought mine I tried looking up as much info. as I could. I'm just passing it on what I found to be helpful to the next guy.
smileyman 06-21-2006, 03:36 PM The race Kit ECU has an ignition advancer, better fuel map, and the exhaust valve (jumper mod) wired in. Bad news is you have to blow another $600 to get the module that will adjust the ECU for different fuel & Ignition maps.
But I did not get that module 'cause I am to damn tight and don't see much reason to adjust it anyway. Without access to a dyno there is no accurate way to tell if I was doing it any good or not...I spent the rest of my dough on a steering damper, engine case, rear sets, frame and swing arm sliders, brake lines, and pads. If I do find some more money I am going to get a slip on...
Sukutto 08-18-2006, 11:38 PM get the 675 triumph
Have you riden one of these. It was a thought. I have a 10R and want a
600cc bike for the track.
