: 06 r better in person
DANGER10R 02-17-2006, 04:25 PM Went to the dealership today an they had all three colors. They look way better in person, especially the yellow one with the mud flap off an the two brothers single pipe.THAT YELLOW IS HOT IN PERSON!!!!or should i say orange
MyZuC 02-17-2006, 04:49 PM I wonder why people never mention that the yellow color has the metallic flake in the paint like the 04 Black metallic?
Moosebud 02-17-2006, 05:17 PM Man I took this yellow 06 to redline today. The front end barley was touching the ground in almost all gears. This baby has some excellent midrange. I must say alot more than my 04.

funny, that sounds how I would describe my 04. :dontknow:

Yes I can tell the difference from my 04 I had to this new 06. Heck I was even laying on the tank to help keep it down. She has some guts.

:ot:
Not questing the guts part, but I thought the new 10 from what I been reading is "less wheelie prone" compared to the 04/05s :dontknow:

pongo 02-17-2006, 06:59 PM you don't believe everything you read now do you?:1848:
Moosebud 02-17-2006, 07:04 PM I guess he does believe everything the mags say. The mags had a loaner bike for about 1 day. I have had mine for almost 30 days. wow who would you beleive?????
bluedevil 02-17-2006, 07:20 PM Actually been listening to forum members like yourself, other forums and mags and trying to put it in perspective. If the the mags are wrong then cool...if you guys that have the new ones say it's such a monster that you have to lean on the tank to keep the front wheel down....then cool...sorry more mag reviews have come out so far then forum reviews as most say 'it's to cold and I can't ride hard yet" or "I'm still breaking it in".....so good, let the reviews from the members keep coming....bring it on.. I love hearing this stuff.

and who do we believe someone who is a pro and test bikes for a living ???or someone who just spent $11000 and wants to belive its better than their "old" 04/05 ? :dontknow:

exactly!!!!! sometimes I clean my chain and think the bike is running faster but if I just spent 11k then the brain can do strange things..lol..just kidding guys. I root for the new Kawi to be the best but if it's a wheelie monster than show some proof over the experts that said NAW.
mrsuprafreak 02-17-2006, 08:02 PM The one thing I think is better about this 06 is the transition from side to side in the curves and it doesn't feel as intimading as the 04 and 05.
I don't like the way the front end feels at high speeds, it's like it's floating at high speeds. It almost feel like it wants to go into a tank slapper but it's not.
I think I only been up to 177mph but I might have done a little more than that but i wasn't looking at the cluster. I'm going to go out to some open roads and see what it will do. O, and by the way, this bike wheelies just as much as the 04 and 05 and worst. :dontknow:

cool, mrsuprafreak....that's the stuff I like to hear. Guammaniac was the first I heard of opening up the new 10 but he never mentioned the front end coming up like some are trying to say now. The mags are saying that's gone now, but the more that start to post here and owned an 04/05 then that's good stuff...just wish more will post the same.
but.....i believe over time the new 10 will not be such an animal when all the reviews come through...after all that was the intentions of Kawi in the first place to make a more controllable race bike:rolleyes:
DANGER10R 02-17-2006, 08:57 PM This is the statement im going to make."Theres no way kawi is going to bring the new zx10rout an the bitch be slower"Progress moves forward not backwards. The new 10r being slower would be like wiping your ass before you take a sh@# PERIOD

well, then you better talk to your boys that says it wheelies more than an 04/05...cause guess what...wheelies make you slower :heyyou:
mrsuprafreak 02-17-2006, 09:03 PM Lifting through all gears????? Get Real!!!!!!!
Take it how how you want, like I said the front end is floating thru all the gears. Altho it will come up in 3rd with no problem doing roll on racing.
:heyyou:
Dragone 02-17-2006, 09:14 PM From what I have seen so far with the new 10r is that the stock suspension settings are way too tight for me. I weigh in at 180lbs. The floating I will agree, it is skipping and not really working. I agree that this ride has really smooth power delivery, but personnally have not had all gears lifting just yet. That is if maybe a 2 inch lift is considered a wheelie king or not. Not sure. But all in all, I think that the suspension will be worked out better for me and will get back to ya.

Ride it just a little harder! Go out and start from 3rd gear and romp on it thru out the rest of the gears and having the steering dampner set at stock setting and then tell me what you think. I experience a front end floating not wheeling or 12oclock or anything but floating in such a way i don't like. I haven't played with the dampner that much yet but I hope to find a happy place.

I need some more explanation on "ride it harder" I guess. Doesn't the torque curve end on a stock 10r at around 10,5ish? with the rest being hp with over rev at or over 13k? I have not messed with the steering damper either.

I'm not trying to be funny or anything but just ROMP on it out of 3rd gear in the med rpm range and go thru the gears. I don't even think you have to go past 11 grand to feel what I'm talking about. It's crazy that you don't even have to go anywhere near 13 to feel it.

I know that this ride gets light in the front when gassing it. Hell, a 140mph pass in 4th, you gun it, the back tire squirms with the front lifting gradually. Just keep this thing controlled and it does well. The steering damper I think it is just there at the moment, no experience on those dampers, so am going off the hip. I am wanting to experience more with it in the controlled environment. At the moment, think that 06 figured things out. More of my liking actually.
Chas34 02-17-2006, 11:00 PM It's interesting the topic has moved in this direction...apparently the thing everyone liked about the Honda last year...Honda now screwed up! Not as stable..shorter wheelbase....wheelie prone..blah blah blah.
I do agree on one point...no way Kwak brings a new bike to market and the old one beats it...IMO.
oneradten 02-17-2006, 11:08 PM they only "tamed" the beast 04/05 still has better power to weight ratio ......besides if u cant ride it then a damn 600 will pass u !

The new 10 is quicker around a real track. In a straight line, it is not faster than the original, good looking version. If it was "badder" as far as straight line stuff goes, I think Kawi would be saying so and making a big deal about it. But they aren't. They admit themselves that it doesn't make more power. The changes they made were to make it easier to get around a track.
oneradten 02-18-2006, 12:40 AM :+1: ..i saw a top speed run on the 06 posted somewhere on here ? dont think it even went 180...like 178 or so :dontknow: ....anyway ............btw just got out may 2004 motor cyclist issue 04 10r......186mph..........need proof compare your 06 to this...........http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/roadtests/zx10r2004/index.html

The experts have been saying for years that they can balance the budget for the United States. Do we have a balanced budget? Not
Yes I have just spend 11 grand on a bike, weather the bike is faster, slow ass shit I still like it. I am just giving my opinion compared to my 04 pumpkin.

You should compare apples to apples. I believe I read that the new 2006 ZX-10R added an extra tooth the the rear sprocket, which increases acceleration but reduces the top speed. If you really want a true comparison, then get a 06 and drop a tooth from the rear sprocket then race top speed, I think the 06 will be much faster due to the better aerowdynamics.
If I get a 06, then I will probably put an extra tooth on the rear because I would rather have a quicker acceleration then a faster top speed, and how often are you going to be able to go "top speed"?
How about adding some carbon fiber wheels to the +1 in the rear sprocket and see what a difference that will make to someone racing side by side to a stock one
