I use my 06 Kawi for street riding these day but race another manufacturers bike. The only bike I am concerned with this next race season, 2012, is the 2011-2012 ZX-10R. I raced against a couple of these bikes in 2011 and they were the bikes most evenly matched to my race bike. And I know the guys who were racing the ZX-10R had not gotten the full potential out of the bike.

What bike do you race? I race a Gen 4 ZX10. The below picture is my bike at the Mallala 3hr endurance race, I ran it pretty stock just a pipe, gearing, better DOT tires and race glass at that stage. I won my class at that one so a good day out for me and the 10. Number 5 is not my normal race number but worked for me on the day. I've done allot to it since then and am very keen to run it again and get it ready for its first full season. Even as a near stock bike I was surprised just how competitive it was. Highly recommend the Gen 4. :ayyy:

I am not changing my current race bike. I just wanted to post up that the 2011-2012 ZX-10R is a good race platform. And having raced against it I can see it will be a tough bike to beat. My race season is now over. Like I said, next season the ZX-10R will probably be the bike to give me some trouble. You would think it would be the BMW. But the beamer just takes too much $$ to make it competitive. And at the club racing level nobody has $$ these days.

good thread.. I am also thinking about racing a 2011+ zx10r. Pinkstaff does well at PIR with his, but how will it fair on a twisty road-course. How does the new zx10r handle, compared to a gsxr1000, or cbr 1000rr? I am curious about the traction control under race conditions. I have ridden the s1000 (demo bike), so I didn't ride too fast, but the traction control was a joke. The wheelie control alone, made for a sour ride. Race mode.. is street mode in my opinion. If I ran a 2011 s1000, I would turn TC off. The only way to make it usable is to get the custom programing for it. Pinkstaff said the zx10r TC worked great.. not even noticeable. but he thinks is on. :p So why is nobody racing the 2011 zx10r.. Kawasaki says because they don't offer any contingency in AMA, or regionals. hmmm. Contingency is a joke anywho.. yamaha pays 1000$ for first in SS,, and like $1500 for first in DSB, and require a 2 year old bike max. If I won all 7 AMA Pro SS rounds, I still wouldn't of paid off the bike.
