Im sure the bike will be more than you ever dreamed of. But getting it that early probably wont live up to expectations. I'd expect it no sooner than feb. They havent even realsed the specs on the bike, no way are they gonna put it in dealers by christmas. :(

Well, CDR, I certainly wouldn't gauge the delivery by when they release the specifications. Last year and the year before that, the bikes had been in the showrooms and in customers hands long before the specifications were posted officially, such as on the Kawasaki web site or reprinted brochures. Like the other waiting buyer, my dealer also told me December delivery, with the disclaimer that things could change. The '04 ZX6 was delivered right when Kawasaki said it would be released. What do you base your information on, that it will be February? Any proof that it will not be delivered in December or is this just another unsubstantiated rumor?

I have about as much proof as people who claim it will be delivered in December. Word of mouth. Although performance bikes magazine this month estimated it would be sometime in March.
But that was just an estimate.
I don't guage the delivery by the specs, im merely saying it shows that it's a sign that Kawasaki simply isn't ready yet. Nothing wrong with taking your time. But the dealer is probably just using that estimated date to get more deposits. It's money for them either way. And they know the sooner you think you get it, the more your willing to put down now.
Can you show me where Kawasaki said it would be released in December? I'm pretty sure you can't. So how does that have anything to do with the 04 636 being released?
All he has is dealer word of mouth, and frankly from experiance for working for a dealer, they don't know shit most of the time.
zeta xray 11-12-2003, 01:08 PM CDR, you know, you sure are eager to jump in everbody elses shit on just about everything. :? Prove how much it weighs, prove how much horsepower, prove this, prove that, I want to see that in writing, etc. Then when I ask if you have any definitive information about delivery date (I admit it was a prod at you), you quote "word of mouth" and get pissy about it. You questioned my comments on the Ben Spies quote and tell me that the ZX10 can't run in Superstock. Then when someone else posted a link to the rule changes, you made some comment about not keeping up on the rules????? What's with that for a "racer". What is CDRacingZX6R? Do you race? You bad mouthed the riders and riding in the ZX10 video. Have you ever been taped on a race track? Ever photographed on a track? I don't claim to be fast. Hell, you may (?) be twice as fast as I am. However, I would guess that I have been riding for more years than you have been on God's green earth. I do attend track days and I feel safe in saying that I am one of the faster riders in my little group but, the photographs of me on a track don't match the image in my mind's eye of what I look like. It ain't easy to look like Val Rossi and I sure don't.
FREE ADVICE, back off a little on the attitude. Like my motocycle riding, I am here to have fun and learn things.

I understand. That is why I’m trying to help you learn. I never claimed anything to be fact. I’m not one of these other forum posters that are like “Ya, Kawasaki said today the new 10R is going to weigh 356 pounds! Woohoo”, and then never responds when you ask people to show there sources. I told you why I believed it wouldn’t be until February. I never said it was fact, I told you what I believed. My main point which might have been over your head was, is that a dealer will tell you anything in order to get you to make a deposit on a bike. The dealer knows NO more than we do. Hell, the dealer by my house where I got my 636 from :? didn’t even know about the 10R when I asked them about it. They told me “Ya, probably 2005”. And I was like, uh ok.
What does this conversation have to do with me and my track days? Do I say anything about your name? I race in my spare time and never claimed to be the best. I merely stated that for the same reasons people attacked the R1 in it’s video, they completely ignored the 10R. Where is the justice? I’m not a brand loyalist because I’m too realistic to be one. You take any comment on the 10R as a personal insult. Obviously I like the bike to, that’s the reason I’m here moron. I just don’t like people putting out claims they can’t back up. I never claimed I could kick your ass on the track. I never claimed that Kawasaki said it would be February. I’m telling you my opinions, which could be just as accurate as the opinions that you can’t back up either. When Christmas rolls around and your riding your new 10R through it in my face, because I promise you when New years comes and you aren’t riding it I sure as hell will do the same.
As for the rules, didn’t I say that I misunderstood? :?: Do I need to beg you for forgiveness? Unlike some rejects here I was honest enough to admit I made a mistake. When I read your post I was like how the hell can a 10R run in Superstock. But perhaps if you posted the link the very first post I might have understood a little more clearly. It helps to have documentation to go with ones statement or point. So people that don’t understand (As in me) can.
Never once did I claim to be good or a god on the track. I just said I do it often and consider myself to be decent.
My free advice is don’t be sensitive. I’m not attacking you or anyone personally. If you think that I am then you need to work out the self-esteem issues. I am merely saying if your going to post something as being FACT than FUCKING BACK IT UP. When you say it’s a fact, I want to know why it is. And if you don’t like me asking that, then don’t respond to my questions.
zeta xray 11-12-2003, 02:56 PM Hey CDR, obviously you are the type of person, when cornered, that responds by name calling and personal insults. When you grow up, you may outgrow it. If you are already an adult, perhaps you should seek therapy.
By your lack of direct response, it would seem that you don't actually race and you have never been filmed or taped on track or even photographed on track for that matter. Is that correct?
In all of your tirade, you have one thing right. Unfortunately, many dealers are not as well informed as their customers. It shouldn't be like that, but it is. Whenever I go into my local K shop, they always ask me about the latest news. Years ago, I used to look forward to going into a motorcycle shop to find out what is going on. No more.
And if you do have a 636 you have a nice bike. Good luck. Have a great life. FOAD.

So if someone takes some pictures of me and films a few videos that make me a “racer”? If your that interested in why my name is CDRacingZX6R, is because there is a race team cold Conceptual Design. They run in the 125/600 series races at Willow springs and California speedway. The two in the team are my friends. In the 600 series he runs open class using one of my favorite bikes, a 6R. Which as I stated I have one as well. I’m a big fan of them. Hence my name. Understand? I never said I raced, but I did say I go to the track and run a couple times a month. I know how easy it would be to confuse the two especially when I’m not that good of a teacher and thank god I don’t have to teach you for a living, or I would have put a few bullets in my head a long time ago.
Just let me know what happens after Christmas.. I can’t wait to hear about your new bike. Because your not getting it before christmas.

My local K dealer has gone "state of the art" and I would bet there is 6 computers in the dealership, all capable of going on the internet. They should have access to the same info as everyone else. Plus some that we do not have access to. I think the root of the problem is that their level of enthusiasm for motorcycles isn't the same. In the "old" days guys worked in a bike shop because of their passion. You sure didn't make much money so you had to love it to be there. Now it attracts a different kind of person.
I apologize to TAZ for screwing up your topic. Congrats on your pending arrival....

i spoke to my dealer this time i spoke to the owner of the dealership. he says that when he went to VEGAS he spoke to the kawi rep and his reply to him was that he shouldn't expect it any later than the 1st of the year. going on that note he also said that he recieved his to '04 636's two weeks ago. thoughts of hope? yes. so anywho, i'm at a small bump in my purchasing road. (please don't flame me for what i'm about to say) the dealer may have offered me a sweeter deal. he said he could get me out the door at $10,700 on the 10r or he could get me out the door on a '03 gixxer 1k for 9k. i'm at a stand still as to what i should do. i love kawi and suzuki the same. funny how their sister companies. i would like to know what you all think not only of what i should do but what you think of the gixx 1k. my dealer said "is it worth the extra $1700?" to wait for the 10r that is. so, what should i do?

Well TAZ, 2 weeks ago, I rode with 2 guys on '03 Gixxer 1000's. One rider was very experienced the other much less so. It worked very well for both. No doubt it is a great bike. If the ZX10R turns out to be a better bike, I doubt that it will be enough better to make the Gixxer seem like crap. I am getting a ZX10. If it as good as the Gixxer, that will be fine with me. If it is better, that is just icing on the cake.
Pt II: I don't remember which magazine I saw it in (I thought it was Sport Rider) but they said they would have a chance to ride a ZX10 in December. They may not mean a full test. But from what I hear from my friendly local Yamaha dealer, they expect the R1 to be 2 to 3 months behind the ZX10 in availability. They just happen to be my friendly local Kawasaki dealer as well. Any comparison test would have to wait for all of the combatants to be available.

N2GEEZ 12-04-2003, 08:34 AM i hope the news is true about CycleWorld being turned down for a comparo. That means that, hopefully, a more competent mag, such as SportRider or it's sib, MotorCyclist, will get the bike first. You know that when FastBikes gets one, you will get plenty of shots of its underside to ad to your photo galleries.
As for the gsxr1000? It's a great bike, but the zx10r will offer much more for the advanced rider, like its increased torque and slipper clutch. But look out for the '05gsxr1000, it, IMHO, will raise the bar yet again.

They may have gone into production in early December, unless your dealers is one of the biggest in the country, he may miss delivery prior to Christmas.
Limited stock is arriving in US late December, but who gets bikes after the press get their grubby hands on the first bikes, only time will tell.
Make mine orange please, Christmas would be great, but Kawasaki Europe have on their website said January and February delivery.

Ah, ya I was right. But im still a dickhead. But I dont think it will be to long now. I said feburary originally, and it seems like a lot of dealers, including the one I might be buying it from said possibly mid to late jan which isn't to bad. Im just hoping that they have the trans sorted out by then, I really dont want to spend over 10k on a bike I cant shift into 4 or 5th. :o But I'd be more than willing to wait as long as it takes for them to make sure the bike they put out is the best. I'm still of the opinion that the R1 is gonna be good compeition, but god I love slipper clutches. ;)
