Just bought me a new engine for my zx-9!! My baby iz gettin a new heart! what year is your 9? Had to do something similar to my 1999 ZX9R. Burnt a hole in one of the pistons :eyecrazy:

Mine iz a '99 also........ I didn't do any damage 2 my engine, i'm just upgrading it to a zx-10 engine. Itz gonna be krazy! People already think my bike iz a 600! Wait until i get this 10 engine up and running and take the zx-9 stickers off! Itz gonna be over! :lol:

yea i do...... i got the brain, the wire harness all that! I think i need just a few minor things and i'll be good to go? I had a thread with pics showing the zx-10 engine in my bike. If u look 4 it u can see whatz going on...

Looks like a hell of a project Zig, but I gotta ask ya why you didn't just do a big bore kit on your 9 motor if it was OK. Without going back and looking I think I saw on Muzzy's website that the big bore kit puts out about what the 10 does in stock trim???

I almost jumped off that cliff. But my ol' dad gave me the idea of putting a 10 motor in there. Especially after hearing all the reviewz of how fast it is. I think i heard that even with that big bore kit the 10 engine still has the edge? I pretty much got it where i want now. All i need 2 to iz get some spacers made, and figure out how i'm gonna do the exhaust. Definately iz a project tho! It'll work out! :helmet:

Zig, I have a 009R with head work comp raised, Ti exhaust, ignition ect, balance + blueprint and full Factory carby mods but stock displacement full Ohlins package and it runs a genuine 165rwhp I also have a 05 ZX10R with pretty well the same work except the engine and it gets 162rwhp. Both bikes are simular in perfromance and I considered a Muzzy big bore kit on the 9R and with the work already done would probably pushed it up over the 180+ mark. Did you consider doing this instead? would probably have been a better option especially in the resale department. Handling could be another issue I have seen some projects go west during the testing phase when giving it a fist full with a big lose the end result. While being involved in Superbike racing it is amazing just how much of a change in a bikes handling shifting weights & component positions that can turn a sweet steering bike into a death trap. I couldn't begin to count the number of times we made chassis mods and geometry changes on the race bikes this last year to get the setup right. Would hate to see you put all that work into the beast only to end up down the road! Good Luck.

Damn i gotta get back cracking on my zx-9 again! This damn zx-10 got all of my attention right now! I miss my baby! zx-9 iz my tru love! I will sell this zx-10 before i sell my zx9! Thatz a fact! Soon i'll get back focused on getting my 9 back together!

:+1: what's up man. I just got finished having a supercharger put on my 05 zx10 by cali superbikes on another thread. but while riding to Mrytle west cycle they had a 10 motor for sale I want to put in my 00 zx9. please give me some insite.:idea:

I heard a lot about overheating issues afterwards though. also it was a 99 so there was no core charge offered for the head like with the 00-03, which is like 6 or $700. so it would have cost me about $2000 for the upgrade. instead I sold my 9r for 4100 and bought my 04 10r in mint condition for 5500. the upgrade cost me $1400 :thumbsup:
