Does anyone have any experience with chain riveters? I am going to have to put a new chain on my '98 R1 and I would rather do it myself. The chain isn't going to last until December (?) when my new green ZX10 arrives. There is too much riding to do until then. Besides, I also have a 2 day track day to attend Oct 25 / 26.

I guess there are different models available. A dealer in San Antonio says he has a Motion Pro piece for $70 but he does not recommend it. I have heard prices up to the $250 range. The last time I did one, I just used common shop tools. It was a b***h getting the side plate on and to the correct depth (width). With a lot of hands, I managed to get it half-a***d staked. It is still working, but I wasn't pleased with the final product. Does the tool you have make the task easier and more professional? Where did you get yours and how much was it?

I have since bought the Motion Pro model chain breaker/riveter. If you tend to do your own bike work, I highly recommend it. It works great.
