A board newbie and a brand new 2005 ZX-10R!
Bought a green 10 yesterday morning! I'm going to get some street time on it and then drag race starting April 2006.
I drag raced a 2001 ZX-9R for 4 years with quite a bit of success (personal bests are 10.024 seconds @ 137.29 mph). 8 First Place finishes, 11 Runner Ups, seven #1 Qualifiers. 2005 - #2 Overall, 2004 - #4 Overall, 2003 - #3 Overall, 2002 - #6 Overall. Raced it in 4 different states (Utah, Nevada, California, and Washington).
I would like to hear from anyone that have drag raced their 10. I'd like to know the good and the bad. What numbers are you running? What track/elevation are you at? What set up are you using? Pictures?

kreracing 12-06-2005, 10:40 AM Hi 7015! maybe we have met before at some Cali or Nevada tracks. We ran an old ZX9R motor in our ZX7 chassis in 2003 and took runner up in Super Gas for the season. Our best was 9.66 at 140. I think you will find that the "10" will run under 6 flat at half track, compared to our 6.15 at 115 which we ran at Sacramento with the air corrected to 1,500 feet. The track sits at 90 feet above sea level but it is always warm there! Our stock motored ZX7RR went 9.97 at 135.5, our personal best and maybe one of the quicker 750's in the area. It weighed 635 with rider and gear. We are in the process of building a 10R in a tube chassis and shooting for eights for the 2006 season as soon as we can procure the stand alone computer , and all the other race components.

I think I've met you briefly a time or two. You are from the NMRA, right? I raced with the NMRA once in Vegas (2002) and once in Sacramento (2004). I did that bike display at Arizona Charlies the day before the race in Vegas. Yep, I liked the air in Sacramento! That's where I got my personal best of 10.024 seconds!
I plan on just setting up my 10 as a basic sportsman bracket bike. I hope to run in the 9-second world even at Salt Lake City's elevation (4,400'). I'm not mechanically inclined and I very, very rarely have anyone at the track with me to help out. So, I want to set it up so it is as reliable as a street bike but wins some rounds bracket racing! Basically, I'll set it up exactly how I had my ZX-9R set up (it won 123 rounds in 4 seasons).
Aren't you a sponsor of the NMRA? Don't you have a Web site or something too?

KRE Racing 12-07-2005, 01:11 AM hey mark,
did you know Kawaskai is paying $600 for a win and $275 for a runner up at every NMRA (http://www.nmraonline.com/main.php) race for 2006 in pro/Et, super/comp, super/gas and top/gas?
I just bought a 05 Ti zx10r it's one hell of a bike, and hopefully kawasaki will be helping out on those payments

Actually, the Fallon, Nevada races was Ron Gledhill (turbo 'busa) riding my bike. Something was wrong with his bike so he borrowed mine to keep fighting for the NMRA Pro ET Championship for 2004 (which he won).
Kirk just won his second Street Legal Track Championship on his 2000 ZX-6R.

I'll post that info in the 6 O'Clock News area of UtahDragBike.com. What does the NMRA pay for a win and a runner up?
I've had my '05 ZX-10R for a week today and I haven't even sat on it yet!

No, my board username isn't my phone number or Social Security Number! It is my bike's racing number. All the cool names were already taken!
Glad to see you bought the fastest color out there!!! lol
Green is the only color for "ZX" anything! I had a 1998 ZX-6R (bought it new), a 2001 ZX-9R (bought it new), and now my 2005 ZX-10R (bought it new) and they are all GREEN!
