zx6r vs cbr600f4i

i'm a little new on this area, but this is the thing; i'm buying my first bike and for what i've seen zx6r is the best bike i could buy for a start, but there are not that much zx-6r's where i live, and i haven't seen any for sale...i have a reasonable offer on a 2001 cbr600f4i and i would like to know if that would be a good buy. Maybe next year i'm changing to a zx-10r, but for a start i just want to spend $5k or less on a decent bike. FYI i live in panama (Latin America). Maybe if i find a really good offer i could buy one in the US and bring it here but again i everything must be <$5k.

5k or less for an 01 F4i is decent and you'll learn alot with it. BD

what about getting a 01 zx6r shipped to panama for 5k?....i think it would be something near 800 to 1000 for the shipping/paperwork, so the bike would have to be around 4.2k or less...i've seen some on ebay from 3.5k to 4.5k... what would you suggest?

Depending on the shape of the F4i locally i'd say go for it and forget about the shipping headache of the zx6r..............if your only going to have it 1 year and then upgrade to a 10r its an easy decision from what i can tell. BD

My ZX6R is for sale for $4500 right now, bottom dollar.. 2001 with only 8k miles on it. My best friend and typical riding partner rides an F4i and I'm faster than him in the straight stretches, and through the turns, but a lot of that is probably riding ability. i had a 02 F4i, great bike, then got the 10R, i'd say also go with whatever is local.
